Do you believe that changing your point of view would make your life changes too?

There's a saying like that, but what if we cannot change?Do you believe that changing your point of view would make your life changes too?Of course we can all change. maybe not our instincts, but how we view the worled, our relationship with it., asn such. theese things can all be changed. The power of positive self talk is amazing, if we tell ourselfs that we are crap, then we are likely to feel so, whereas if we tell ourselfs we are great and wonderful people, and act in such a way, then of course that would change our perception and outlook on life .

We all have to be willing to change and see things from other peoples points of perception as well as our own.

By being better people, we then change, our whole lifes change, because, now this is a universal truth, LIKE ATTRACTS LIKE. Therefore if your n good, decent and nice, you will attract the same kind of positive responses from your peers. We reap what we sow,

So go out and reap some 'good' seeds!!Do you believe that changing your point of view would make your life changes too?It's been a year ago.

When I read this again, I realized more how important it is.

Thanks for all your answers. One more thing, Havoc and Rory, I like your answers. Thank you very much.

Do you believe that changing your point of view would make your life changes too?Changes in thought and belief are often followed by a change in behavior.

When the two can't be reconciled stress is sure to result.

Do you have a specific example in mind?Do you believe that changing your point of view would make your life changes too?yes i do belive it as im medically depressed but id like to know the same thing im now seeking a councilor to help me as im ruining my life my partners and my daughters life because i cant change my thougts and stuffDo you believe that changing your point of view would make your life changes too?If you do not keep an open mind, your life will only be lived behind closed doors. You have to keep your doors open to get the new person in you to grow. Never have a closed mind.Do you believe that changing your point of view would make your life changes too?Yes; but then, changing your point of view does not mean instantly changing your standpoint. You yourself have to realize it first, of course through expererience and deep comprehension.; Changing your point of view does not mean walking through the toy shop one day and suddenly tell yourself %26quot;OK, from now on I would believe that there are aliens.%26quot; At which case you are rather fooling yourself. Our life and our point of view always go hand in hand.Do you believe that changing your point of view would make your life changes too?very possibly.Do you believe that changing your point of view would make your life changes too?Possibly. It depends on what you want to change. If you have stupid thinking's then i think you should change them. Think positive that yes you can change yourself for the good.

Negativity takes you nowhere.Do you believe that changing your point of view would make your life changes too?We are what our thoughts are hence our life.

I agree with you that is not easy thing for this requires strong control over one's mind but I do believe also that if you UNDERSTAND this you're half the way to your goal.Do you believe that changing your point of view would make your life changes too?Mystery -

One of the best quotes I have ever heard relates to your question:

%26quot;Our thoughts create our realities...%26quot;

~Author Unknown

When I first heard this, it didn't really make a lot of sense. But the more I thought about it - the more I realized how true it is.

Whatever you believe sets the stage for how you react to everything that happens to you. Whatever you believe serves as a model for how you understand the world.

So in essence - what you think about something certainly impacts the results you get in life.

If you want to truly change, you have to find a way to change what you believe or to change what you dream being possible.

Change is the hardest thing a person can go through, so there is no one %26quot;right%26quot; way to do it. But it's possible if you work really hard (starting with how you think about things).

All the best,

  • How do you explain the lives of people who testified to a life changing experience with Jesus Christ?

    Anecdotal evidence is evidence of exactly nothing other than people like to tell stories and expect people to believe them.How do you explain the lives of people who testified to a life changing experience with Jesus Christ?Mental disorder, drug use, possibly a brain tumor.How do you explain the lives of people who testified to a life changing experience with Jesus Christ?Placebo effect + drug use + brainwashing.How do you explain the lives of people who testified to a life changing experience with Jesus Christ?Yeah, what the first guy said.How do you explain the lives of people who testified to a life changing experience with Jesus Christ?Good Lord Almighty not you again!How do you explain the lives of people who testified to a life changing experience with Jesus Christ?I am a Christian, however I consider personal testimony to be anecdotal and really proof of nothing.How do you explain the lives of people who testified to a life changing experience with Jesus Christ?The same way I explain the lives of people who testified to a life changing experience with Allah or Krishna.How do you explain the lives of people who testified to a life changing experience with Jesus Christ?What's to explain? Their lives were changed by faith in Jesus.How do you explain the lives of people who testified to a life changing experience with Jesus Christ?The placebo effect. The same way people feel better when taking a sugar pill that they think is real medicine.How do you explain the lives of people who testified to a life changing experience with Jesus Christ?idk, Rooks?

    With me it was base-jumping.How do you explain the lives of people who testified to a life changing experience with Jesus Christ?The same way you explain the lives of people who testify to a life changing experience with psychedelic Mushrooms.How do you explain the lives of people who testified to a life changing experience with Jesus Christ?Delusion.How do you explain the lives of people who testified to a life changing experience with Jesus Christ?I don't know, but I'd like a life changing experience...How do you explain the lives of people who testified to a life changing experience with Jesus Christ?Well, for one the made a positive change in their own lives, they started trying to live up to bible standards and be more positive. This would benefit anyone, since the base of all bible commands are for our safety %26amp; health.

    Anyone can make positive changes in their lives, Jesus or not. You just need self respect and love.How do you explain the lives of people who testified to a life changing experience with Jesus Christ?I explain it by saying that they had a life changing experience with Jesus Christ. How do you explain the lives of people who testified to a life-changing experience with LSD or going to Monterey Bay or seeing a baseball game for the first time or my very favorite: Going to a Grateful Dead concert over 1,000 times - that will change your life for sure!How do you explain the lives of people who testified to a life changing experience with Jesus Christ?Unless you're claiming that 100% do, I'd explain it by any number of things: self-delusion, coincidence, improvements due to better mental outlook, etc. Claiming a cause-effect relationship doesn't make it so, you know. (Or, considering it's you, you probably don't know.)

    What was a life changing event in your teenage life?

    Language Arts - Life Changing Event (Turning Points) speech.

    Event or events that have affected who you are today. I really can't say anything significant has happened to me yet. =/What was a life changing event in your teenage life?Why don't you write about how 911 has affected you? Or are you to yong to remember that?What was a life changing event in your teenage life?When my mom threw me out- aged 14.What was a life changing event in your teenage life?The greatest life-changing event for me was my junior year of high school. I had some horrible friends and a final situation tore me out of that group and into the group of a more loving friend group. That new group introduced me to the God who I had left behind and I have never been happier.What was a life changing event in your teenage life?My father went into an uncontrollable rage when I was 13. He picked me up by the scruff of my shirt and back of my pants - gave me my first really bad wedgie. If it would have ended there that would have been bad enough.

    He carried me all the way to our bedroom and heaved me as hard as he could against the wall over my bed. After I dropped onto the bed, he went completely psychopathic and beat me with both his fists until they were so bloody that he had to stop because of the %26quot;pain in his fists.%26quot;

    He took off his belt and continued beating me with the leather end. I was screaming so loadly for my mother to help and stop him that I did not understand what he was saying. Then he turned the belt around taking the leather end wrapped around his hand and began to beat me all along my back with the large buckle.

    Finally, I stopped screaming because I was passing out and coming too from the pain and could not scream any more. I heard him say, %26quot;Stop your screaming and crying.%26quot; Ah, I noted that if I stop making sound that the beating would perhaps stop. So I stopped making any noise at all. I just lay there very still and I quietly forced myself to not cry in pain. He stopped beating me. I was bleeding over about 60% or more of my body. I missed 3 weeks of school just lying quietly in bed not saying a word, not crying, not complaining and even refusing to speak to my mother. I know for certain that he would have completed killing me because of his later behaviour. I almost died from that beating. To this day I still suffer from pain in several bones including vertebrae in my neck and back. I never forget the pain. That day is as clear in my mind as if it happened yesterday.

    I swore that I would never cry again under any circumstances and that I would never speak with my father ever again. In fact, all I obsessed about for years was killing him in his sleep. Why did I not kill him? Because I was in the church choir, went to mass almost every day and I always got 100% in my RC religious studies. The Police or prison were not any deterrent. I never gave that a second thought. I knew that it was wrong to kill no matter the reason - even if I strongly believed that it was for my own self preservation. I did not even understand that concept at the time.

    With respect to my promise never to cry again, it was 28 years later during therapy that I first cried again.

    I was always the top student in my class. I was very ambitious and I desperately wanted to escape from that very dysfunctional family environment with 9 out of control boys; a manic-depressive, psychotic father; and, a submissive mother whom my father also phyically abused and who also abused us mentally and physically when our father was away. There was also mental, physical and sexual abuse from the two oldest brothers to some of the younger brothers. They attempted it on me at age 10, but I fought and screamed until they stopped. My choir boy's voice carried for more than a few blocks. They threatened to kill me in my sleep if I told my parents. This is just the tip of the iceberg of the dysfunction in my family. There is still denial and avoidance to this day.

    Fifty-seven years ago there was no recourse to the Police, Child and Family Services, children's abuse hotlines, etc. There was only %26quot;Reform School.%26quot;

    Just before I turned 16 I read a large ad from the Canadian Army in the newspaper which I read every day. The Army was recruiting 16 year old boys for an %26quot;Apprenticeship%26quot; program that was for a minimum of 5 years of service with an option to extend it to seven years. I very much wanted to become an Electronics Engineer. I called for an interview. They promised (orally) to send me to the Royal Military College in Kingston which was just a few miles from Vimy, the Royal Canadian School of Signals. They said that I could complete my grade eleven and twelve at Vimy during the two years of training and study as a radio technician. Then I would be ready for entrance to RMC, officer training and four years of study to become and Electrical Engineer. Of course nothing of the sort happened.

    During the first year as a 'boy soldier' I was bullied and mentally and physically abused much worse than at home. After a year of this, my body had developed from a 109 pound weakling kid into a small shadow of a man. My best friend taught me how to fight back and how to protect myself from bullies. He taught me a lot more about self defence than the military. I used any and every available weapon and tool available to defend myself. I told each bully that if they ever even looked at me the wrong way that they had better be prepared to kill me because I was prepared to and would kill them first or later in their sleep if they ever touched me again.

    I did have several fights - especially with my other best friend - the biggest man/boy in the whole school of over 2,000. I hit him with every thing I had in the solar plexus

    . He went down like a ton of bricks, dislocated his shoulder and spent two weeks in the hospital. Every other fight I took the other person with a very fast and very hard punch to the center of the forehead, to the temple or to the Adam's apple part of the neck.

    I never lost a fight from the age of 17 until last June 15, when the other much larger man suddenly grabbed me before I knew he was going to attack. Then he head butted me. I spent the rest of the day in the hospital. I have since tried my best to avoid every confrontation possible.

    After leaving the army in 1959 I tried one year in partnership business with my eldest brother. All of the negative memories were repressed but I hated being around him and his deceptive and manipulative manner. He was also very rude, boorish and crude.

    As for my father, after nearly 10 years of counselling and Psychological therapy, I finally started speaking to him in a meaningful manner when he was 72 - three years before he died of lung cancer. We had made our peace without discussing, resolving, healing or bringing closure to my wounds - physical, mental and spiritual. I just had to let it go for his sake. However, about 10 years ago I started to have %26quot;flash-backs%26quot; and I still suffer mental anguish from time to time. It is baggage that I just have to live with. For the most part I am a very happy man.

    I decided to return to school to redo my grades 11 and 12 Matriculation for University entrance. Since I was in absolute poverty, I had no means to support myself and pay tuition, books and room and board. I worked during some evening and weekends as a cab driver and as a radio and TV technician for my brother. In the summer, I worked at hard general labour. I also took two years off from university to work up in Northern Manitoba with Manitoba Hydro on the new High Voltage AC line from Grand Rapid to nearby Winnipeg. The pay was more than twice the pay in the city.

    I started back to school in February 1960 and I received my BSc. degree in Electrical Engineering - Electronics - Telecommunications in May of 1968.

    I started with Manitoba Telecom Services in my dream job of research and design in the General Staff Engineering group of the Engineering Department. I stayed in Standards and R%26amp;D for 25 years in many positions of great interest and challenge. I progressed up into technical project management and finally into a middle management position just under a department head. The pay was incredible and beyond my wildest dreams.

    I started working at 30 years of age, $12,000 in student loan debt, and I had to retire 25 years later at 55 because it was less expensive for me to retire than to continue working. I retired independently wealthy.

    I had an awesome and wonderful career. I was always most happy at my place of work and while doing work - even at home.

    I had a dream and passion to become and Engineer since I was 12. I realized my dreams through continual visualization, raw ambition and incredible determination.

    Looking back, that near death beating from my own father was the pivotal point in my life and I somehow made something very positive and rewarding for myself. I will never say that I am grateful that it happened. I detested my father's behaviour and I hated him for decades because of what he did to me. And, I have never fully recovered despite over a decade and many addition months of professional counselling.

    Sorry about the %26quot;tome%26quot; but this is what %26quot;I needed to say.%26quot;

    How young are you? You are very fortunate that %26quot;I really can't say anything significant has happened to me yet. =/%26quot;

    Regards, Phoenix: ****

    ****

    %26quot;A phoenix is a mythical bird with beautiful gold and red plumage. At the end of its life-cycle the phoenix builds itself a nest of cinnamon twigs that it then ignites; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix arises. The new phoenix is destined to live, usually, as long as the old one. In some stories, the new phoenix embalms the ashes of the old phoenix in an egg made of myrrh and deposits it in the Egyptian city of Heliopolis (sun city in Greek). The bird was also said to regenerate when hurt or wounded by a foe, thus being almost immortal and invincible ?a symbol of fire and divinity.[1]%26quot; ****

    I also use the %26quot;The phoenix from the Aberdeen Bestiary%26quot; picture as my own picture or Avatar in many of my other sites.

  • Have you ever persuaded someone to do something life changing?

    If so, what was it? And how did you persuade them to do it?

    When I was little [about 5 years old] I asked my dad to stop smoking. He said he would on his 40th birthday and he kept his promise. I think it helped being young because he was hearing it from his own daughter. So I didn't really have a hard time persuading him.Have you ever persuaded someone to do something life changing?yes, when you are telling the effects of the things that might suffer him soon.. better to tell him/her heartilly.. with my freinds, i keep on pursuading them not to drink always coz it might affect in their health and also they are so young to practice such things like that..

    then, after a year we've met.. they stopped it caused they find to hard on theirselves... so early prevention makes your health being well...

Before I read it, I was bored with life, felt that it was horribly monotonous. Looking for Alaska was a inspiring, thought-provoking book that addressed the way I felt (and sometimes still feel.) It's about a boy named Miles who goes to Culver Creek Academy to %26quot;seek the Great Perhaps%26quot;. Although it's a story, John Green weaved his insights about the phrase %26quot;How will we ever escape the labyrinth?%26quot; (the labyrinth representing life with pain and suffering) and the coming-of-age story of Miles. It's YA fiction, but really unlike most of the YA books I've ever read - it's funny and emotional and heartbreaking and deep and thought-provoking and just really, really fantastic.

    What is the best option in your opnion on the life changing Decision?

    I'm 4 1/2 years into University Degree. Tuition has gone up and I can't handle having two jobs, an internship, and a full class load anymore. The state school has adopted a flat rate tuition deal that is killing my finances. I've decided to go into business with my uncle in a city where the university charges per class not a flat rate. He owns a painting company where I would put to work the things I've learn with my Management degree. It looks promising and I've always been a business kind of person. I've sold to business that I also ran while I was in college. Now, I just want to know if I should make some money and really start this painting thing for myself, save up, and do school parttime which would take longer or become an employee and suffer while getting my degree now. I stand to make 70-100 grand a year with my uncle withing the next month. I'm getting clients and project opps already. Let me know what you guys think.

    tonyWhat is the best option in your opnion on the life changing Decision?work with your uncle. it will put you at ease... good luck.What is the best option in your opnion on the life changing Decision?Have you put a lists of Pros (Positives) versus Cons (Negatives) Together yet...and make sure there is a list for how this will affect you now versus in 5 years where you hope to see yourself...also remember business have their ups and downs based on the economy and supply and demand so you need to check out all your choices if you want to sleep with a soft pillow. And don't worry if you feel angst after the decision is made, that is only natural and doesn't always mean you made the wrong decision it just means you are having the misgivings anyone feels when they make a decision and go with a certain path or try something new...Best Wishes to you

    What life changing book would impress a very gifted, liberal 6th grade girl who reads at college entry level?

    She is easily bored if the book is not a page turner. She liked Truman Capote's book, In Cold Blood, but didn't like Obama's books or Gone With the Wind. GWtW was too mature perhaps and Obama's books were draggy. I want something that is more significant than ICB.What life changing book would impress a very gifted, liberal 6th grade girl who reads at college entry level?I was also reading at the college level when I was in 6th grade. At the time, my favorite books were:

    Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

    The Once and Future King by T.H. White

    Short stories and poems by Edgar Allan Poe

    Les Miserables by Victor Hugo

    Les Miserables in particular has some epic themes. I don't know if the books were %26quot;life-changing%26quot; (that's a tall order), but I still have a fond place for them in my heart, many years later. I also don't know if they are page-turners, but my pure little 11-year-old heart devoured them. There's really no way of knowing what emotions and plots will appeal to a young girl with acute intelligence. The best you can do is expose her to books that you think are good and hope that something sticks.What life changing book would impress a very gifted, liberal 6th grade girl who reads at college entry level?Without you telling me what kind of books she likes, I'll go over the life-changers for me. Brandon Sanderson is a great author who knows how to play out complicated plotlines and keep it interesting. Dune, of course, George Orwell books.

    If she's at all inclined for religion C. S. Lewis is well written (if he's a bit insane) and No god but God: The Origins, Evolution, and Future of Islam Dr. Reza Aslan was a good summary of Islam and it's future, and was a page-turner to boot!

    What do you consider horrific or life changing events in history?

    I'm looking for an idea for a movie. In events I mean something like Titanic, 9/11 or such (please don't say these ideas)

    Maybe like a mideval war or something tragic that happened. Something people already know the ending, but how the story got from point A to point B is a little shady. I want an idea I can fill in the blanks (with accurate research).. ANy ideas are welcome! thanks!!What do you consider horrific or life changing events in history?The Hinckley Fire. In September of 1894 a massive firestorm, caused by excessive logging swept into the town of Hinckley, MN. More than 500 people died in the fire, 418 from Hinckley, as the fire spread over 400 square miles.

    The telgraph operator stayed at his post sending and reciveing messages until he was overcome by the flames. His last message was %26quot;I have stayed too long.%26quot;

    There were two different train lines seving Hinkley (about half way between Minneapolis and Duluth). One train filled up with passengers but was unable to get through to the north. The engineer stopped by a small pond where the passengers escaped the flames.

    A train on the other line was able to get through and alerted several other towns along the line. It barely outraced the flames, at one point crossing a gorge on a smouldering bridge. An amazing true story.What do you consider horrific or life changing events in history?I had a few ideas in mind, but then saw The Rape of Nanking suggested.

    I must agree.

    It is one of the most horrific events in History and very little has been studied or divulged about it - probably because it would be impolitic now.

    There's a terrific book -The Rape of Nanking - which will give you a guide. The Japanese actions in China BEFORE Pearl Harbor are largely ignored and should not be.

    Besides that, how about the current genocides in Sudan, Darfur or the Armenian Genocide of the early 20th Century?

    Well. I'm trying to change my life for myself. I've been told I have became bitchy and drama follows me everywhere. So I was just wondering on how I could get some help on changing.What Would Be a Good Thing To Read For Help On Changing Your Life?Chicken Soup for the Soul is pretty good.

    What is the best, most life-changing advice anyone has ever given you?

    I have a fourteen year old son, so I'm looking for something I haven't already heard. Thanks for participating.What is the best, most life-changing advice anyone has ever given you?Somebody once told me 'We are all responsible for how we feel.' That means whatever comes your way, whoever tries to ruin your day, when it all comes down to it, YOU are responsible for how YOU feel about. If you choose to be overwhelmed by life's obstacles or hurt by a careless comment, that's your bad.What is the best, most life-changing advice anyone has ever given you?In the movie %26quot;Saving Private Ryan%26quot;, When the capton dies, he tells the Private %26quot;earn this%26quot; If you seen the movie, then you will understnd.What is the best, most life-changing advice anyone has ever given you?whatever u want in life go for it with everything uve got.. no regrets.. you can do it. if u want it nothing will stop u and u wont have to look back later and be sorry for missed chancesWhat is the best, most life-changing advice anyone has ever given you?To succeed in life you require discipline,hard work, commitment, focus and passion.What is the best, most life-changing advice anyone has ever given you?This is actual a cultural proverb %26quot;if you want good, your nose has to run%26quot;

    Also, you might want to look into:

    Khalil Gibran - author (philosophy)What is the best, most life-changing advice anyone has ever given you?You will meet many people in your life, some offering advice, others out to get you. Hope it takes.What is the best, most life-changing advice anyone has ever given you?Without knowing him its hard to say. People can be real good about giving advice but weak on execution. Fourteen is young and he has much to learn. I think kids that age get discouraged with failure easily and need to be encouraged to overcome disappointment in a positive way. Some of the best advice I ever got came from old football coaches. Its real easy to tell someone to get up after they just got knocked down, its a lot harder to actually do it. You will need to show him how to get up when he gets knocked down.What is the best, most life-changing advice anyone has ever given you?To Thine Own Self, Be True.What is the best, most life-changing advice anyone has ever given you?This was not passed on to me but I thought it pretty much encapsulates what you're looking for %26amp; something that is relevant/ applies to any time/ gender/ place, etc.

    It goes like this,%26quot;Life is an adventure, once you start to see it that way, you'll enjoy the journey more...%26quot;What is the best, most life-changing advice anyone has ever given you?Keep your knees bent.

    Don't take anything personally.

    Meditate to stay centered.

    These three things have helped me navigate the chaos of life more than anything I ever learned in any kind of religious context.

    I, too, have a 14 year old son. In his recent Coming of Age ceremony at our Unitarian Universalist Church, his father and I, symbolically, gave him these three truths to arm him on his journey toward a more adult self-awareness and self-realization.

    Good Luck to you both! :)What is the best, most life-changing advice anyone has ever given you?%26quot;What good is sitting all alone in your room,

    come hear the music play,

    Life is a cabaret old chum,

    come to the cabaret.%26quot;What is the best, most life-changing advice anyone has ever given you?Since human beings are necessarily interdependent, every human action is both self and other regarding. When we develop ourselves we awaken others to their potentials and inspire, encourage and raise them up aswell. And when they fall others suffer damage too. For me human beings cannot degrade or brutalize others or inflict emotional or moral damage on others without inflicting it on themselves. This happens in three ways;

    1.To degrade others is to imply that human beings may be so treated, and thus lower the moral minimum due to all human beings from which all alike suffer.

    2. To degrade others is to damage their confidence and self-respect, and potential for good, and so both deny the benefits of their possible contributions and to increase the Collective moral, psychological and financial cost of repairing the damage they were likely to do to themselves and others.

    3. As beings capable of goodness and self awareness, we could not degrade or mistreat others without hardening ourselves against our victim’s suffering, we build up distorted systems of self justification, roughening our moral sensibilities and lowering not only our own moral standard but that of humanity.

    As Gandhi said “no man takes another down a pit without descending into it himself and sinning in the bargain”.

    This is the basis of my philosophy of loving kindness. We should not only learn HOW to be good people but WHY we should be good people-show him this and your son will be a good person.

    In Deepest Kindness,

    DWhat is the best, most life-changing advice anyone has ever given you?Plan Your Castle in the Air

    Bite off more than you can chew, then chew it.

    Plan more than you can do, then do it.

    Point your arrow at a star, take your aim and there you are.

    Arrange more time than you can spare, then spare it.

    Take on more than you can bear, then bear it.

    Plan your castle in the air, then build a ship to take you there.

    — Author unknown (too modest i guess)What is the best, most life-changing advice anyone has ever given you?Everything that has been said is advice I try to give my own children, aged 24 to 29. For myself, whatever advice I give to my children, I have to follow. Lead by able example, not by able mouth. Do as I say, and I will do it too. Here's another quote by Gandhi that I am finding very useful:

    %26quot;You must be the change you wish to see in the world.%26quot;

    Recovering alcoholics, what was the life changing event that made you want to give up drinking?

    Or was it forced help from a family member?

    Also when you gave up drinking and it's been years later, do you ever have another drink again?

    Also what advice could you give to our fellow readers about taking it easy on the bottle?

    Thank you!Recovering alcoholics, what was the life changing event that made you want to give up drinking?Simple.

    My dad died right after I turned 21, and I drank almost every day for 3 years straight.

    I got sick and tired of being %26quot; sick and tired %26quot; and as cliche as it sounds it's true.

    I stopped drinking for over 10 years, but also had a handle on it afterwards. I have a 3 drink MAXIMUM and usually don't have more than 2.

    Only ONCE in the last 22 years have I been completely lit up.

    Readers won't take advice about drinking..they have to learn it on their own. Usually the HARD WAY.Recovering alcoholics, what was the life changing event that made you want to give up drinking?I strongly believe you cannot force a family member to give up the bottle. Nobody could have forced me to do that.

    It didn't take an event for me. In fact, I had many, many events that should have forced me to to quit but it didn't happen. I totaled a car, spent time in jail, should have spent more time in jail (ran from the cops), broke an ankle, had heart problems, relationship problems, etc...

    What made me quit? Myself. Deciding I wanted a better life.

    If you manage to get off the bottle, don't ever have another drink. Been there also, and you'll be back to the same problems. You have to give it up altogether.Recovering alcoholics, what was the life changing event that made you want to give up drinking?Best advice - try living with an alcoholic! My mother's boyfriend nearly destroyed our whole family.

    We were so scared all the time. When I look back on it now I don't know how we all got through it in one piece. He would beat my mother, break into the house, threaten us with a gun... etc.

    If you've ever had that happen to your previously stable, happy family, it never leaves you. I would NEVER NEVER NEVER go out with anyone who drank to excess - even if they were not technically alcoholics. It scares me so badly, and I'm 30 years older now.Recovering alcoholics, what was the life changing event that made you want to give up drinking?I was raising my daughter and she missed a day of school because I had been partying most of the night. I realized that because of my drinking, I was not being a responsible parent. I tried to do it alone and drank again after that.

    Taking it one day at a time, I have not drank again for the last eight years.

    If someone has a drinking problem, I suggest going to AA. Read the Big Book, go to lots of meetings, get a sponsor, a home group, and work the steps. If anyone would like to learn more about AA and staying sober, feel free to e-mail me.

    Thanks to a Higher Power I choose to call God, the fellowship of AA, and the 12 steps, I don't have to drink today.Recovering alcoholics, what was the life changing event that made you want to give up drinking?I'm not an Alcoholic but my ex was and the event that changed him was pushing me down when I was holding my baby son in my arms because he was trying to drink and drive and I tried to stop him. I was so angry and told he it was his son or it was alcohol. He chose his son, that's not to say he didn't have a slip up or two but in the last 6 years he's slipped up twice, I told him then 3 times and he's out for a year.Recovering alcoholics, what was the life changing event that made you want to give up drinking?I made up my mind to do it after things got bad enough. Daily blackouts, couldn't work, that sort of thing.

    Haven't had a drink in 11 years, and a %26quot;higher power%26quot;/AA had nothing to do with it. It's a personal choice, not a disease.

    That drug ruined my life...I'm curious if this has happened to anyone else on Yahoo Answers....I know there are plenty of websites stating that this is the drug from hell....I agree totally. Cheers :-)What is the most life changing movie u hav ever seen?The Beach. It changed my life but I dont cry, I got on a plane and did everything that Leonardo Dicaprio did in that movie, except for swimming to an island, I took a boat. Im now moving there permanently and would never have visited Thailand if it werent for that movie.What is the most life changing movie u hav ever seen?I think A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints was PHENOMENAL. It wasn't a widely released film but it was one of the best I've ever seen, I recently bought the book and I can't wait to read it. The actors in it are Robert Downey Jr, Shia LaBouf (not his usual type of role though), Channing Tatum, Rosario Dawson and a bunch of other people and its about living in poverty in New York and its a true story. Chaos theory was great too. I couldn't stop thinking about it for days after I saw it and parts of it were so sad. Moulin Rouge also gets me each time. The departed and Four Brothers are two more. They are all great and I really dont cry a lot so these movies are really high up on the list for me.

    Drugs have dangerous side effects and you never know how they will affect you. I always say drugs are for emergency use only when all else fails, but some people take drugs as if it was a bag of candy, with no thought at all.

    But we can also ask why do some people have a terrible reaction to peanuts, Most of us can eat peanuts with no problem, but a few people it will kill them.

    I really think you need to pray to Jesus for your friend, he heals people all the time, you just need to have a really sincere prayer and hope he will grant it.Why do some people have deadly or life changing reactions to the swine flu shot?All vaccines have adverse side effects. I'm sorry to hear about your friend.

I am sewing the insurance company but I am sick of waiting and hate my lifes' drawbacks now... any words of wisdomHow do you cope after a life changing accident?Major accidents like the one you've gone through affect the mind more than the body. I've gone through one.

    I suffered 13 fractures in the rib-cage, barely missing a direct hit to the heart and survived.

    I found the following very useful:

    a. Get back to your work routine as soon as permitted.

    b, Forgive, forgive, forgive...... and let go of all those negative emotions! They sure don't help me recover.

I have lost much, both finical and physically. Further, I to am involved in a lawsuit. I have had three surgeries and need two more. First off, I suggest you start and continue to take a supplement call gucosamin condrotent (spelling may be wrong). This will help your knee grow more cartilage, which acts as the cushion, or shock absorber, in your knee. Second, I suggest you see a D.O.. They may seem weird but I've had more and better results from them than %26quot;normal%26quot; doctors. Finally, I suggest you find or build yourself some support. I, for instance, MADE myself go out everyday, even to just get the mail or a cup of coffee. Keeps you moving and gives you something to get up, shower and dressed for.

    And I don't know if this is proper but please e-mail me if I can help you or if you want to talk. I've been there and am still there! randolph9337@yahoo.comHow do you cope after a life changing accident?In my experience, changing my perspective of my life-changing health problem has been the answer. It has taken some time, and there are days when I slip back and think, %26quot;Poor me.%26quot; But that's rare now. You say you %26quot;hate my life's drawbacks.%26quot; Once you can begin to see the changes in your life not as drawbacks but simply as the way things are now, as part of what is now normal for you, then you'll feel better mentally/emotionally. And trite as it may sound, it's helpful (I've found) to look at people who have worse physical challenges than you do and see how they've overcome them and gone on to do wonderful things or live their lives to the fullest, not letting a physical challenge get in their way.

    Every decision I've made based on emotion has always been wrong.

    Emotions can be deceiving.

    Have you ever had a life changing dream?

    Two days ago, i had this dream, i learned the true meaning of what love is and how it feels like. I felt what it's like to risk your life to save someone. What about you?

    Have you ever had a life changing dream? i once had a dream that me and my girlfriend got into an argument which quickly escalated into a violent altercation. somehow in my dream i realized that in my waking life i was never very nice to her, yet she always stood by me. when i woke up i shook her awake to apologize and hold her and cry with her, however, i found i could not wake her up for i had stabbed her to death in my sleep. i guess you can say that dream changed my life, because, well, i had never been to prison before, and now...prison is my life. is that what you meant? Have you ever had a life changing dream? Yes I had that kind of dream right now I'm happy to love and risk my life for that person.Have you ever had a life changing dream? Yes, and so have you, whether you know it now, or not. Rebel Rouser, are you serious?Have you ever had a life changing dream? I once dreamt of children without eyes murdering and skinning dogs, with the virgin mary holding her child at the end of a long ornate table as she threw him out the window, me drinking from a golden cup, fighting for my life and the life of my sister. All these little children chasing me, and I finding my sister lead them to her. Despite my will and power to protect I failed in the long run. They got her anyway....I felt petrified! Made me rethink about what I was doing in my life. Don't dabble in things you don't fully understand. And I learned you can't protect my sister always.Have you ever had a life changing dream? yes i believe i have. the dream showed what could've happened in the relationship of a really good friend and i after we had this real life fight. it showed how we let it fester and get worse and worse so by the first day of school we were like enemies. so i wrote her this really long email apologizing and explaining my side of the story and we made up.

  • What do you think of my 250 word essay on a life changing expirience?

    Looking back, I could have never imagined my life would be shaped so greatly by a group of preschoolers nearly a sixth of my age. A few years ago, I might also have laughed with disagreement at the statement, “he who teaches children learns more than they do.” A special group of 3 year-olds came I'm last fall to learn from me, and left teaching me more than I could ever ask for.

    Before taking child-development, or even before high school, I was very unsure of myself. During class I was taught to build my preschoolers self-concept, but I often said to myself, “How can I teach these kids confidence, when I don’t even feel it myself?”

    From them though, I have grown to believe the statement, “You can learn many things from children.” Those 3 year-olds, no matter what got in their way, they were open to whatever was presented to them, and they respected each other with value.

    One instance that really stood out at me, was between two boys this past spring.What do you think of my 250 word essay on a life changing expirience?Try cutting out the quotes, and maybe a little less about how you were before and after the incident (although there has to be some of that, to show how life-changing it was).

    Neat story, though.

    Would anyone care to share a life changing event?

    It has been a long time since I posted a question or replied to questions of others. Life has it's ups and downs and my downs have been monumental. I suffer from Bipolar Disorder which has been a life long problem. Problems are solved, of course, by solutions but sometimes the solutions can become a separate problem in itself. For example, cancer is in deed an disastrous problem but the solution of chemotherapy brings about problems of it's own. For now I have surpassed my problems and the problems of the solutions as well. Although I don't have cancer or even a life threatning disease, coming to terms with my disorder has been a life changing event which has made my life much different than it was 5 years ago or even 6 months ago. My past was clouded by troubles which have now been overcome. I have a clear future ahead of me now. So ... I was wondering if anyone reading this would like to share a life changing event of their own which could lift my spirits as well as others.Would anyone care to share a life changing event?two years ago i was getting into alot of trouble. I was getting into fights at school, my family was going homeless and katrina happend (have relatives there. went to 11 funerals that year)so i sat in class one day adn one wise teacher wrote: Ghandi once said we must be the change we want to see in the world,you have it in you to do GREAT THINGS. go ahead and fly and here i am. i got accepted into one of the top high schools in my state. Which was all good and all but then my father broke his leg and we were so close to being homeless, and a year later we still struggle. I got tired. my mom is tired my brothers are onld enough to help but they dont give a damn..I realized that my mom and i keep each other from going insane. we are each others rock. And thats what keeps me going. my mother. so she can keep going and we can contiue on. Sometimes you get so tired of life but at the end of the day you think god that he put you on life's trial and at the end of the day, you realize that everything will be ok.Would anyone care to share a life changing event?Keep fighting and strive for quality in your life. When my son died I learned that what doesn't kill you really does make you stronger. Look for the good in all things. After all, if you can't find something positive in a bad thing then it happened for nothing.Would anyone care to share a life changing event?I will, I am in a relationship (just ended actually) with an individual that is either bi polar, or a cousin of it. They refuse to acknowledge there is a problem.

    over the course of four years, I have dealt with my own emotions of thinking something was wrong with me.

    Through much rreading and researching, I have learned agreat deal about different psychological and emotional issues.

    Being on the receiving end of the verbal attacks, twisting of words and relentless mind games,,,I did not run,,,,I learned and through this have learned a great deal more about myself.

    My life has taken a totally different direction, I view others in a different way.

    I am the same person, but much wiser and stronger.

    Had these 4 years not educated me I would be the same as I was,,,,not as wise and not as strong as today. In a weird way I appreciate it all as I have taken the lessons life had,Would anyone care to share a life changing event?When I discovered the Worldwide United Foundation!

    http://wwunited.orgWould anyone care to share a life changing event?i had anxiety and depresson for a year and i never got it treated because i was to scared to get medicine, but then i went and got help and i've been on medicine for the past month and i feel great. I have no more anxiety attacks, and i am a happy person.

    another life changing event that i had was about a week ago. I was in a fight with a friend, and then i suddenly realized that i shouldnt spend my life fighting with others. I want my one life to be lived happily, and when i fight with others i'm not happy. so from that moment on i decided that i wont fight with anyone. where does fighting get you in the first place? no where. so i'm completly fight free, and its really relaxing.
