On the cusp of life changing decisions?
At the moment i have been thinking of a big decision for about a year now i am confident its the right thing but maybe not the right time. With me sometimes i just have to do it and i never think its the best time with anything i do. How do you make huge decisions? What makes you take the plunge?On the cusp of life changing decisions?In a big decisions I put all the pros and the cons ; and if the cons overweight the pros ; I stay quietOn the cusp of life changing decisions?I wud go for it wen my heart says its the right time.. If i feel there's too much of risk rite now, then 1st I wud like to reduce the risks to a bearable extent, then go on wit my decision.. Gr8 tat aftr a year ur feeling the same abt ur decision.. The largest generation in the history of this nation should have produced an even larger number of children. Instead, we are worried about having enough money in the Social Security system to cover a few of our expenses when we retire because we made sure the numbers were not there. I am thoroughly ashamed that things got so out of control in this country. I could expect it to happen in other places, but surely not here.
I share the experience of Allen B. So many men in this country do. You say we have no heart for the women we would deny the free rule of their own bodies. Where is your heart for the innocent children who will never get to know that mother or father? Why would anyone capable of the least amount of compassion allow children to die for the sake of convenient last minute birth control? At the age of 28 I was at sea with the navy when I learned that my twin babies were aborted. I had no right to say a thing because I was just a man and it was not my body. I stayed with their mother for 13 years before we parted, and the most damaging thing I did to her was ride her for the death of my children. I deeply regret both of those incidences. The memory stayed hidden inside until the day that the only thing keeping it hidden was lost. I am 59 now and I am amazed that at the time I was defending my country, that country had moved to deny me the right to defend my own family.

Can anyone recommend any 'life changing' books? The sort that you just can't put down?
I'm stuck at home for quite a while due to an injury and really need to keep my brain as active as possible! It's been a long time since I've read a book that I just can't put down and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations?
Thanks!Can anyone recommend any 'life changing' books? The sort that you just can't put down?A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth is a truly incredible book - one of the greatest novels of the 20th century. And at over 1,400 pages it's also one of the longest! It follows the lives of several Indian families in the 1950s (i.e. a few years after Partition) as they interact over the course of one year. A simple premise, but the characterisation is phenomenal. It took me months to wade through it (somewhat sporadically, it has to be said) but if you are stuck at home then I sincerely recommend giving it a go.
For a shorter book, still based (initially) in India, try The Impressionist by Hari Kunzru - one of my favourite books. It's about the life of a mixed-race boy born in India in the 1920s and what happens after his illegitimacy is discovered and he is kicked out out of his home town.
Unicorn Road by Martin Davies is a nice simple read; it's a new release and although it's easy to read, it's also got some wonderful storytelling and moves along briskly.
If you haven't read the His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman, I heartily recommend them, especially since you'll have time to read all three in a row! The individual novels are Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass, in that order. Technically they're for children, but the themes and concepts are extremely adult and very thought-provoking.

I figured at that point, nothing would kill me until my time on earth was done, a point I'd never be able to foresee. ....so sorry about what happened with your dad, it must hurt you alot...can't you find it in your heart to forgive him? he is still your dad, this is a big shock to you, but i bet he's feeling pretty crap too...why not meet him so somewhere, just you and him, and just talk about it, sounds cheesy right now but he's not known this girl long, but he's known you all your life, so i think that you should call him and talk....it may turn into a fight but at least you'll get it off your chest, i know he's hurt your mum and you, but he's part of your history, this woman isn't and i don't think he'll be with her for long, he will feel it soon, but don't cut yourself off from him, he's still your dad
