If you discovered/designed something life-changing for humanity would you keep it to yourself?

Imagine if you discovered a free energy source, or designed teleportation technology, or a time-machine etc.

There must be people out there who have discovered/designed things but kept their ideas to themselves for fear of being exploited or hushed by the government...

What would you do?If you discovered/designed something life-changing for humanity would you keep it to yourself? No, but I'd sure get a patent on it.If you discovered/designed something life-changing for humanity would you keep it to yourself?Depends on the device. I already know of a free and very cheep way to produce a lot of power for many people in this world. We can very easily convert people into fuel for electricity or food for starving people. Each day millions of people die from various causes, this is wasted energy that we normally lock up in a concrete box and bury.

But to answer your question, no I will not try to use this energy resource. The ethics of such an operation are way over my head and humble being.

So as I said before, it very much depends on what the discovery is.If you discovered/designed something life-changing for humanity would you keep it to yourself?Keep quiet about it - and don't you tell anyone either ...If you discovered/designed something life-changing for humanity would you keep it to yourself? There just could be reasons you would keep things to yourself. If you discovered/designed something life-changing for humanity would you keep it to yourself? The same as everyone else, sell it! Let some other fcuker exploit it!If you discovered/designed something life-changing for humanity would you keep it to yourself?Make a big profit from it.If you discovered/designed something life-changing for humanity would you keep it to yourself?Depends on what I discovered. A new Ebola-type virus would be life-changing.

Even if it were something 'good' such as a new, safe, non-weapons capable energy source, you'd still have to think of the consequences. How many people would lose their jobs and what would it take to retrain and/or relocate them? What would it cost to develop and deploy? What industries would have to change or be created to produce and support it? What would the abundance of energy mean for the environment? And, as you say, would the economic and social dislocation be so great that the government or affected industries would hush it up?

I'd have to think long and hard about how and when and where I made a revolutionary new invention public. If you discovered/designed something life-changing for humanity would you keep it to yourself?Really depends on the device and how it %26quot;changes%26quot; humanity.

A free energy source would get you killed by oil based companies.

A teleportation device? would get you killed by any government who wants it for war, or from international transport companies (included air travel).

A time-machine? would get you killed by any politician who has made a mistake and want to correct it.

So, well, if the WHOLE of mankind cannot be given the stuff at the same time, someone would profit from it and I would become a liability. Hence elimination.

Safer to destroy it.

Safer NOT to invent it.If you discovered/designed something life-changing for humanity would you keep it to yourself?I would go straight onto T.V and demonstrate my design/discovery so that everyone would 1. Know it was mine and 2. The government couldn't hush me as everyone would already know.

So no I would not keep it to myself, that would be no fun!If you discovered/designed something life-changing for humanity would you keep it to yourself?if it posed any threat to anyone than i wouldn't even keep it 4 myself. and since nearly everything does smt of d sort the answer would be ... well i don't know... it all depends....If you discovered/designed something life-changing for humanity would you keep it to yourself?do you mean if it could be life changing for humainty..... no but i would get the highest price for it but i would make sure i go to the patent office so no one can take anything away from me of copy it and say it was theres..

why what have you discovered? If you discovered/designed something life-changing for humanity would you keep it to yourself?I'd like to think I'd be as noble as Sir Tim Berners-Lee, and donate the technology to the world. But to be honest, I'm skint. So patent office, here we come.If you discovered/designed something life-changing for humanity would you keep it to yourself? No, but I would patent it, so I would earn money from it during the life of the patent. There are many people who didn't patent their inventions, and simply sold them for a large some of money. Then watched as the purchaser made millions from selling it to an eager public.
